Extreme High-speed Laser Material Deposition (EHLA) is a cutting-edge technique that is capable of depositing material onto a substrate at a much faster rate than traditional laser cladding methods. With cladding speeds of up to 400 m/min and surface coverage rates of 3 sq.m per hour, EHLA offers a cost-effective alternative to hard chrome plating and thermal spray technologies for corrosion and wear protection. The metallurgically bonded coating produced by EHLA is durable and non-porous, providing efficient protection against various types of wear and corrosion. Furthermore, the process consumes less feedstock material than thermal spraying and has a higher capture efficiency. As technology develops, hybrid coatings are being developed, combining the anti-corrosion coating with an extremely wear-resistant layer.
