Why Precision Components Manufacturing Needs Clean Air at Each Station
Precision components are made to close tolerances: shafts, bushings, valve parts, cutting tools, gauges, fasteners and small machined housings for automotive, aerospace, medical and electronics customers. After machining, they are ground, polished and finished, inspected and then marked with part numbers, batch codes or DataMatrix codes for traceability.
Fine dust from grinding and polishing settles on finished surfaces, fixtures and measuring equipment, and laser marking gives off plume that can coat optics and parts. In precision components manufacturing, extraction at each station keeps parts and gauges clean between steps and protects the operators who handle small parts at close range.
How a Dust Fume Extractor Supports Precision Work
A dust fume extractor captures dust or fume at the wheel, polishing head or laser, passes it through filter stages and returns the cleaned air to the workshop. A pre-filter takes out heavier grinding debris, and a HEPA stage captures the fine particles that would otherwise drift onto nearby parts.
The setup on this page combines Donaldson BOFA extractors with LASIT laser markers, so finishing and marking can sit side by side in a precision parts shop.
Why Clean Surfaces and Readable Marks Matter
For precision parts, three things decide the setup:
- Finished surfaces: dust settling on polished parts, fixtures and gauges has to be cleaned off before inspection, so it is better captured at the source.
- Round and stepped parts: marks must stay sharp all the way round a shaft or across different heights, which needs rotary motion or automatic focus.
- Marking plume: fume from the laser should be drawn away at the marking head so it does not settle on the part or the lens.
Built for Precision Component Shops
Each product covers a different station in a precision components workshop.
Grinding, polishing and finishing
The DustPRO Universal gives 285 m³/hr at 96 mbar through pre-filter and HEPA stages, in a 33 kg unit with filter condition indicators. With suitable ducting it can serve two machines.
Marking round parts
The LASIT Rotary Table Laser Marking Machine uses a 20, 30 or 50 W fibre laser and synchronises rotation with the scanner through FlyCAD, giving continuous 360° marks on shafts, bushings, sleeves, cutting tools and similar parts, with compensation for tapered parts.
Marking curved and stepped parts
The LASIT 3-Axis Fiber Laser Marking Machine adds a motorised Z-axis with up to 400 mm working height, keeping focus constant on curved, stepped and irregular surfaces. It has an 800 × 450 mm work area and imports 3D CAD files.
One extractor for two marking stations
The PrintPRO 800 DS has two independent inlet ports on one filter system, giving 760 m³/hr at 96 mbar through HEPA and carbon filters in a brushed stainless steel cabinet, with visual and electronic filter indicators.
Building a Complete Precision Components Extraction Setup
Grinding, polishing and finishing stations start with the DustPRO Universal, a dust fume extractor that can serve two machines. Round parts are marked on the Rotary Table Laser Marking Machine, and curved or stepped parts on the 3-Axis Fiber Laser Marking Machine. Both markers are connected to one PrintPRO 800 DS through its two inlets. Genuine BOFA replacement filters for every unit are supplied from India.
Who Uses It

FAQs
Why is dust and fume extraction important in precision components manufacturing?
Grinding, polishing and finishing release fine dust that settles on finished surfaces, fixtures and measuring equipment, and laser marking gives off plume that can coat optics and parts. Capturing both at the source keeps parts and gauges cleaner between steps, reduces cleaning before inspection and protects operators who handle small parts at close range.
How can one extractor serve two grinding or polishing stations?
The BOFA DustPRO Universal can serve two machines with suitable ducting. It gives 285 m³/hr at 96 mbar through pre-filter and HEPA stages, so heavier grinding debris is caught before it reaches the fine filter. Filter condition indicators show when a change is due, which helps keep airflow steady at both stations.
Which laser marker suits round or stepped precision parts?
For full 360° marks on shafts, bushings, sleeves and cutting tools, the LASIT Rotary Table Laser Marking Machine synchronises rotation with the scanner. For curved, stepped and irregular parts, the LASIT 3-Axis Fiber Laser Marking Machine uses a motorised Z-axis with up to 400 mm working height to keep the focus constant. Both run FlyCAD software.
Who supplies dust fume extractor solutions for precision components manufacturing in India?
